The Ultimate in Performance, Density, and Availability for Enterprise-Level Applications
Outstanding Performance Using Up to Four Intel® Itanium® 2 Processors
The Intel® Server Platform SR870BN4 delivers the power of up to four Intel® Itanium® 2 processors in the industry’s first 4U rack-optimized design for that architecture. Featuring up to 32 GB of registered SDRAM memory in 16 DIMM slots and 6.4 GB/sec peak memory bandwidth, the Intel® Server Platform SR870BN4 is an ideal solution for meeting the performance and reliability requirements of a broad range of enterprise and technical computing applications.

Exceptionally Modular, Tool-Free Serviceable Design
The Intel® Server Platform SR870BN4 enables high-end-performance solutions that are remarkably easy to install and maintain. The server platform can go from cart to fully installed in the rack in about 12 minutes, while processors can be added in less than five minutes, and memory in less than two minutes. All this is thanks to a unique, highly serviceable design for access to hot-swap power supplies, fans, SCSI drives with hot-plug PCI slots and support from Intel® Server Management for managing the platform.

Optimized Chipset for Robust and Balanced Computing
The Intel® Server Platform SR870BN4 is based on the Intel® E8870 chipset, the nextgeneration high-end server chipset technology optimized for the Intel® Itanium® 2 processor and featuring an open platform architecture. With memory scrubbing to enable proactive memory repair and end-to-end ECC protection for all data transfers, the Intel® E8870 chipset helps to ensure data integrity across the entire system for a highly reliable, available, and scalable solution.

Built for the Future
The 4-way, 4U Intel® Server Platform SR870BN4 offers extended investment protection by supporting future generations of the Intel® Itanium® 2 processor family. This scalability provides integrators and customers a seamless transition to next-generation architecture, with no need to retrain technical personnel or revamp infrastructure, including spares, parts, training, or support collateral and processes.
